Poetic Licence Arrives!

All the team at Pink Flamingo  are super excited by the arrival of Poetic Licence Shoes new autumn / winter collection.
This is the first season we have had the privilege of stocking their beautiful designs.
Poetic Licence are the sister brand of Irregular Choice but their collections have a very different feel . Poetic Licence takes its influences from British culture, vintage fabrics and world inspiration. Their design team incorporates their love of things past into artfully modern designs to make extraordinary unique footwear.

Poetic Licence first launched as a brand in 2005 in London. The design team has since made their way to the south east coast of England to the delightful town of Brighton where they continue to provide unparalleled vintage - inspired footwear, which they sell all over the world.
The new Autumn / Winter collection has a classic colour palette featuring warm taupe's and chic monochrome with highlights of silver, electric blue and pumpkin orange.
Our favorite here at Pink Flamingo is the Downtown Darling Boot a very vintage style boot with a Victoriana feel in brown or black suede with a leather covered toe and heel. There is a wide satin orange or blue lace up the front of the boot placed in a colourful woven fabric with a striped seam. This boot has a zip fastening on the inside. Priced at £125.

The Downtown Darling boot would look great paired with the Lorelei Mac Coat  by Darling Clothing. Priced at £89.99. Darling Clothing is another premium brand we stock at Pink Flamingo that exudes a vintage style.

If you are looking for an everyday heel to take you from work to play the Hot-to-trot shoe will do that in style. Featuring a comfortable heel and a taupe tweed fabric. It is finished off with a ruched silver ribbon and a bejeweled broach. This shoe has a unique vintage feel but still wouldn't look out of place in the office or on the dance floor. Priced at £69.99.

A staple throughout Poetic Licence collections is the Backlash Shoe Boot. This season features The Backlash is a navy blue leather with a check fabric detailing and a red satin lace trimmed with a contrasting scalloped seem. This shoe boot is very versatile and will add that vintage feel to any outfit! Priced at £89.99.

Poetic Licence Mission "Is to make every lady feel like a pin up girl" and we definitely believe you will in these fabulously vintage shoes.

Loafers Are Here & Now!

The classic look loafers usually give to the more mature customer are now the effortlessly cool way to balance your basics! That’s right the flat comfortable shoes you didn’t think you could get away with wearing has now become the ultimate in shoe staples! With the likes of Nicole Richie and Jessica Alba stepping out in this fabulous trend we are definitely going to be getting a pair!
Pair yours now with skinny jeans, cargo pants and match with pretty floating dresses and lace tops to create the feminine contrast these classic loafers need. Layer with chunky knit cardi’s for the cool Spring days approaching.

Choosing the right loafer is crucial to how you’ll wear them, being comfortable and practical they are the perfect shoe for any occasion, the office, shopping, sightseeing these shoes will see you through almost any situation. Leather is the material of choice when it comes to loafers as anything synthetic is likely to appear cheap and tatter quickly. Whether you’re going for a classic pair or a bright updated version, loafers always look timeless. Investing in a good, quality pair of loafers means you will get plenty of use out of the shoe meaning great value for money!

Loafers can be worn to work with a feminine blouse and a slim leg trouser to show off the loafer shoes. Or team with a pencil skirt and opaque tights.

For a casual weekend look team the loafers with a pair of jeans and a tight fitting jumper and neckscarf, this look can be transferred from running errands to having a spot  of lunch to a casual evening out. These shoes are so versatile and comfy you’ll be wondering why they haven’t been a staple in your wardrobe before.

Happy Birthday Charles Dickens!

Happy Birthday Charles Dickens
Today marks Rochester’s most famous novelists Charles Dickens 200th Birthday!
Rochester, Kent played a large part in Charles Dickens life and many of his novels feature places and landmarks from this quaint little town. The recent BBC rendition of Edwin Drude, Charles Dickens final novel, was filmed in Rochester and featured the Cathedral on many occasions.
Most of the restaurants and shops in Rochester play homage to this World famous novelist by using names and quotations in the name chosen for their business, ‘Sweet Expectations’ ‘Pips Of Rochester’ ‘Oliver’s Wine Bar’ to name a few.
Charles Dickens wrote the likes of Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol, Little Dorrit, Great Expectations, The Mystery Of Edwin Drude he liked to write in weekly chapters, some like to refer to him as the modern day soap writer. He kept people intrigued and wanting more, a good talent to have when you’re a novelist in the 1800’s. It’s probably this same talent that’s kept him as much alive today as he was back then, as a fascinating and loveable character.
Charles Dickens sadly died in his home Gads Hill Place aged just 58 years old, he was found unconscious in the kitchen of Gads Hill and was pronounced dead at the scene. He wanted nothing more than to be buried in Rochester Cathedral in an inexpensive ceremony but his wishes were never met, he was laid to rest in the Poets corner of Westminster Abby.
To find out more about the Life of Charles Dickens take a trip to Rochester where you’ll find all the history you need, ask the locals and find out what life is like now in such a historical town and are there any strange noises or goings on when the lights go out, maybe Charles Dickens is still roaming the streets!
From all at Pink Flamingo Boutique, Rochester we wish Charles Dickens a very Happy Birthday and feel honoured to be part of such a cultural and historical town!

Snowtastic!

Snowtastic!
Well who thought the UK had managed to get away with a coating of the white stuff this winter? We were hoping, but I think it was inevitable! Both our shops in Whitstable and Rochester woke up to a picturesque (but chilly) scene on Sunday morning after most of the South East went through a huge snow storm on Saturday night. Thankfully our wonderful Pink Featherettes were ready to open the doors to all our fabulous customers so you could still keep warm and shop for pretty things in our boutiques in Kent.
Here at Pink Flamingo we’ve been discussing ways to which we love to cosy up and keep warm on snowy wintery evenings like Saturday and here’s a few:
-          Mug of hot chocolate, biccies, fashion magazines, and a good film like ‘Confessions of a Shopaholic’ oh and don’t forget the Duvet Duck Slippers!
-          Cup of tea, BIG bar of chocolate, shopping online for all your fav fashion goodies (preferably at Pink Flamingo Boutique)
-          A big bubble bath, a good book, total pamper evening, followed by a manicure with a pretty Cath Kidston Manicure Set.
-          Or if you do decide to venture out to a nice pub with a roasting fire don’t forget your snow boots! The ultimate accessories in these wintery conditions.
Enjoy the snow everyone! Love the Pink Featherettes J x

Irregular Choice Shoes

Here at Pink Flamingo Boutique we love stocking innovative and interesting Brands so there’s no wonder we are absolutely thrilled & excited about stocking the new Irregular Choice range of shoes!
Irregular choice was born & raised in Brighton on the South Coast of England (Just like Pink Flamingo Boutique J) in August 1999 by design entrepreneur Dan Sullivan.
Dan was on a mission to change the way we see shoes and put his Irregular ‘stomp’ on the footwear world.”

Irregular Choice is known for maintaining creativity and individuality in a world of conformity.  It is more than just the name of a brand. It's a state of mind, a way of being.  A supply of something fresh and fun that maintains imagination and originality above all else.”
Irregular Choice have been named ‘the lifestyle Choice of Fashion Footwear’ and have a flagship store in New York and London’s hip Carnaby Street.

The Pink Featherettes have fallen in love with the Irregular Choice Trinklettina Shoe, 'it's just so pretty and unusual, we especially love the little charm that's attached!'

A Dickension Christmas Market In Rochester

This weekend saw the Dickension Christmas Festival come to Rochester, Kent where streets were alive with entertainment, readings, song and dance.
Packed with quaint shops including our very own Pink Flamingo Boutique and culinary delights, Rochester becomes a feast of Victorian history. There were lamp-lit parades, choirs singing carols, Father Christmas made an appearance and pretty twinkling fairy lights all framed by Rochester’s picturesque Cathedral and Castle.
The Rochester Dickensian Christmas Festival has been held annually since 1988. Medway held a special place in Charles Dickens’ life and work; the famous writer spent five of his childhood years in Medway, he returned for the last few years of his life, dying at Gads Hill in 1870.
Rochester is also home to the Dickens Christmas Market open Wednesday-Sunday until the 18th December 2011. Set in the beautiful grounds of Rochester Castle overlooking the River Medway and just a few steps from Rochester’s picture-postcard Victorian High Street.
Come along and enjoy a truly festive atmosphere with the castle walls illuminated in traditional Christmas colours and trees filled with sparkling fairy lights, the smell of roasted chestnuts and mulled wine fills the air amongst a wonderful array of German style wooden huts selling a wide range of hand-crafted goods and a festive fair complete with it’s own big wheel with views across the River!
Once you’ve had your fair share of Christmas fun pop down to the High Street into Pink Flamingo Boutique where you will find some beautiful new Cath Kidston collections including some pretty vintage style gift sets and Stunning party dresses by Darling. We also have some fabulous snow boots in store (just in-case the snow starts falling!)

Congratulations To Darling!

I've decided to dedicate this blog spot to one of our favorite brands Darling, I'd like to congratulate them on becoming winners of the Drapers Fashion Awards 2011 as Womenswear Brand Of The Year!

Please see a small section about the Darling brand below taken from the Darling website:
"Having launched in 2008, Darling has grown to become an award winning and exciting independent global women’s clothing brands in just four years.

The Darling range is the vision of Nadia Moraes, the London based designer and entrepreneur who created the label. As an independent boutique owner, Nadia spent many years sourcing pieces for her shops and was inspired to launch her own collection by the lack of affordable, beautiful and stylish clothing available.

Ultra feminine, vintage inspired and quintessentially ‘English’, Darling’s unique brand identity is behind the success and popularity. But it’s not all about the English Vintage Looks, subtle design details in the clothing highlight an independent edge that is valued by the Darling retail network and worn with personal passion by the women who eagerly await each season’s new approach and exciting range. Darling offers affordable luxury product with an emphasis on quality and attention to detail.

Celebrity ‘Darlings’ include Kelly Brook, Anna Friel, Peaches Geldof, Fearne Cotton and Holly Willoughby, and Darling has graced the pages of Elle, Marie Claire, Grazia, Look as well as featuring on shows including X Factor, GMTV and Celebrity Juice."

For your own fix of the Delightful Darling brand visit one of our Pink Flamingo Boutiques in Whitstable or Rochester, Kent.
